The Range Rover family will welcome a new member next year when the Sport Coupe hits the market.
The new SUV will be positioned between the Range Rover Evoque and the range-topping Sport and have a slightly smaller footprint than its bigger brother. As the its (tentative) name indicates, it will also offer a more coupe-like design similar to the Evoque, but will also borrow some styling cues from the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Underpinning the Sport Coupe will be the same aluminum architecture as the F-Pace. Jaguar’s SUV will also be its range of diesel and petrol engines.
There will also be a hybrid, but the most important variant could adopt an all-electric powertrain, the same as the one pinned to debut in a new SUV from Jaguar dubbed the I-Pace EV.
Expected to rival the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, a potential SVR-badged derivative could utilize Range Rover’s potent 542 hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8 and promises to outperform its rivals due to its lighter aluminum construction.
