The most potent version of the Smart Fortwo and Forfour is officially entering the market as the company has opened its order books.

Customers will be able to order the new Smart Brabus in all three available bodystyles, with prices starting at €19,710 (around $21,800 in current exchange rates) in Germany for the Fortwo Coupe model.

The Cabrio version starts at €22,970 ($25,400) while the Forfour model clearly represents the better value in the range, priced from €20,520 ($22,700). Those looking for a more special feel from their new Smart Brabus, can opt for the Xclusive equipment package which adds Brabus heated seats dressed in perforated nappa leather with grey stitching, a leather dashboard and the LED & Sensor package for an extra €3000.

Powered by a rear-mounted turbocharged 0.9-litre three-cylinder petrol, the Smart Brabus makes 107hp (109PS) and 125lb ft (170Nm) of torque via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Smart claims a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds and a 102mph (165km/h) top speed for the two-seaters of the range, with the Forfour Brabus requiring 10.5 seconds for the same procedure and offering a top speed of 112mph (180km/h).

The chassis is upgraded with a Brabus Performance sport suspension, a specially-tuned ESP system, a revised steering and gearbox software to offer a more emotional driving experience. The latter now features a so-called “race-start” function which is basically a launch control for your Smart.
