The plethora of Nurburgring “Touristenfahrten” videos available on Youtube taught us that if you want to get a car to its absolute limits on the Green Hell, you should be prepared for what happens next. Like this guy.
The infamous Nurburgring circuit doesn’t leave much room for errors, and its known to be notoriously unforgiving to unexperienced drivers. Heck, due to the place’s raw nature, even people who know the track like the back of their hand sometimes get “bitten”, but occasionally (whether it’s due to pure luck or pure skill), there are some individuals that are spared.
That said, Fuchsröhre (or Foxhole) is one of the most challenging, and dangerous, curves around the circuit – as multiple gruesome videos demonstrate. Fuchsröhre is a very fast left-hander, which unfolds right before Adenauer Forst, and follows a downslope where drivers achieve mind-boggling speeds (sometimes in excess of 250km/h / 155mph).
But since Fuchsröhre has an over crest which unites with Adenauer Forst’s tight right hander, lots of drivers lift off the throttle in mid corner or apply the brakes, which upsets the balance of most FWD vehicles resulting in lift-off-oversteer.
Lucky for this “taxi” driver, his reactions (and skills) were no match to the laws of physics, and managed to control the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, sliding it about into the next corner. And we bet he didn’t even soil himself while doing it.
It also proves that even if it doesn’t look like much, the front-wheel-drive BMW 2 Series has some proper Bavarian DNA running through its system.
