More than 1 million Ford F-150 EcoBoost trucks were sold since 2011, attracting over 60 per cent of the F-150 sales mix.
Ford’s F-150 is still the only truck in the segment offered with turbocharged direct injection engines with the company ready to launch this fall an all-new second generation 3.5-litre EcoBoost paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
“We are proving that with advanced technologies like EcoBoost and high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy construction, Ford continues to outperform the competition by virtually every metric,” says Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “EcoBoost is delivering the value, capability and performance F-150 customers insist upon, while helping improve their No. 1 demand – better fuel economy.”
The 2.7-litre EcoBoost version returns an EPA-estimated 19mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway, with customers clearly lining up to get one as Ford claims it received more than 13,000 orders in the last two months alone. Combined with the 3.5-litre V6 version, Ford has sold more than 300,000 F-150s this year so far.
And with 1 million EcoBoost F-150s on the road today, Ford estimates that their owners will save more than 110 million gallons of fuel over the course of the next year, easily besting the competition.
