In case you missed the news, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura. The Bolognese automaker has marked the occasion with special displays, rallies, and other events, but now it’s celebrating with a special edition of its successor.
The Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage has been enhanced by the company’s Ad Personam customization division with a two-tone paintjob (split top and bottom) like the orange and gold seen here. Other options inspired by the Miura’s palette include Verde Scandal and Blu Tahiti.
Matte silver or gold wheels, measuring 20 inches up front and 21 in the back, match the lower bodywork, and naturally there are special badges to be found all over. The interior is similarly enhanced in either Nero Ade (black) or Terra Emilia (tan) leather, with matching top-stitching and carbon-fiber trim.
Like the Miura, the Aventador packs a twelve-cylinder engine amidships, but places it longitudinally instead of transversely like the original. It also produces considerably more power, with 690 horses squeezed out of 6.5 liters, compared to 350 from 3.9. Such is the result of progress.
Those with a long enough memory will recall that this isn’t the first time Lamborghini has paid tribute to the Miura with a modern supercar. Ten years ago on its 40th anniversary, the company rolled out a contemporary Miura concept that drew more direct inspiration from the original. The concept may have been more convincing than this special edition, but where the 2006 show car never saw production, the factory in Sant’Agata will build 50 examples of the special Aventador following its debut at Goodwood this weekend.
