Aston Martin has announced its Goodwood Festival of Speed lineup and the DB11 will take center stage, tackling the famous hillclimb with the brand’s CEO, Andy Palmer, behind the wheel.
Unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show under the company’s “Second Century” plan, the sports car will unleash its 600 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque developed by the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, which allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds and up to 322 km/h (200 mph),to entertain those that attend the British event.
“Being the first person to drive the new DB11 up the famous hill climb at Goodwood is a great honour on behalf of all our employees“, Palmer said.
The £155,000 ($219,460) DB11 will be joined on the Moving Motor Show by the most powerful V8-powered Vantage ever built, the GT8, and by the track-only supercar, the Vulcan, which returns to Goodwood one year after it made its world debut. Driving the two powerful machines on the 1.16-mile (1.86 km) long course will be the Aston Martin Works driver, Darren Turner.
“Last year the car was only three days old when we arrived at Goodwood and we hadn’t even done a circuit test. Since then we’ve completed 15,000kms of testing and the car is now an incredible machine to drive. Despite being straight out of the box last year its performance over the weekend was fantastic. I’m looking forward to going back up the hill in the Aston Martin Vulcan and this time really being able to push“, said Turner.
While the three exotics will be put through their paces, visitors at the event will get to take a closer look at the Vantage GT8, which will be on display in the Supercar Paddock, while its more powerful sibling, the V12 Vantage S, will be showcased in the Michelin Supercar Paddock, throughout the event. The 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place from June 23 to 26.
