When you come across someone hogging the fast lane with no intention of getting out of the way, don’t you wish you wish you could call them and get out of the way?

Some simply wait, others flash their lights, get as close as possible, use some colorful language or use the first lane to overtake when they lose patience.

Here, though, we have a rather polite driver who called up the number on the plumbing van ahead of him and asked them nicely to get out of the way and left faster cars through.

According to the description of the video, the van was doing between 60 and 70 mph (112 km/h), with 70 actually being the speed limit. So no, it wasn’t that it was necessarily going too slow, but they call it the fast lane for a reason, so you can overtake those slower cars in the first lane.

Interestingly enough, the man who picks up the phone once the call is placed, was sitting in the passenger seat of the van and needed a bit of an explanation as to why he should ask the driver to change lanes. Fair enough – at least it all went down as smoothly and politely as possible.
