Even though they’ve had plenty of success last year against other supercars, the 740 PS F12 Berlinetta and this 700 PS BMW M4 have never taken their differences to extreme levels, racing each other way past the 1/4 mile marker. Until now.
The F12 Berlinetta is powered by a 6.2-liter V10 engine, sending 740 PS and 690 Nm (508 lb-ft) of torque to its rear wheels. All those fancy numbers result in a 3.1-second 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time and a top speed of 340 km/h. For all intents and purposes, the M4 doesn’t stand a chance.
Except this here isn’t just any BMW M4. It’s rocking a KK-Performance Stage 3 tune, bringing its power output all the way up to 700 PS. When stock, it’s about one full second slower to 100 km/h than the F12, but under these circumstances, we’re guessing it’s much more of a fair fight than the Ferrari had hoped it would be.
If you’re thinking weight is going to win this for the Bimmer, you may want to reconsider. It tips the scales at 1,612 kg (3,553 lbs), whereas the F12 is hauling 1,705 kg (3,758 lbs) around – so as you can see, you could make a case for the difference not being that substantial. You can easily argue both ways.
Without giving away the winner, you’ll might be intrigued to know that while there’s a little over a second between them once they pass the 1/4 mile marker, after half a mile that distance is more than just cut in half.
