Ford Motor Company is conducting a safety campaign on more than 270,000 units of the F-150 sold across North America.
The Ford F-150 pickup trucks have to get their brake master cylinder replaced, as fluid leaking into the booster could affect front wheel braking, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of nine accidents and one alleged injury involving interaction with the F-150’s brakes.
Owners of 2013-2014 F-150’s, equipped with 3.5-liter GTDI engines, made at Dearborn between August 1, 2013, and August 22, 2014, and at Kansas Assembly Plant throughout August 1, 2013 and August 31, 2014, will have to take them back to the dealers.
The total number of affected F-150s stands at 270,873, out of which 225,012 are located in the US and federalized territories, 43,682 in Canada and 402 in Mexico. Ford’s dealers will replace the brake master cylinder free of charge and additionally, the brake booster will also be replaced if leaks from the brake master cylinder will be found.
