With a strident paint job, and a set of custom Brushed Dark Clear wheels from HRE, this 918 Spyder isn’t about being subtle.
Of course you can argue that there’s nothing subtle about it in the first place, since it is one of the world’s elite hypercars. But compared to the likes of the LaFerrari or the P1, the Porsche’s exterior can come across as a bit docile.
Whether the ‘Voodoo Blue’ helps it or not, we’ll leave that up to you to say, but it does certainly differentiate it from other similar models that posed for HRE wheels in the past such as this black 918 Spyder with the Weissach Package or this red one that’s almost infringing on what you’d expect to see on a Ferrari.
There’s also a subtle difference between this custom color and the optional Sapphire Blue which is a little darker, though not as much as the appropriately named Dark Blue metallic, which is also an option.
The HRE P101 wheels are the same as the ones on the red 918 and just like with that one, we’re talking about a darker tint than the ones on the black 918 we saw two winters ago.
Aside from sitting pretty and posing for the camera, the 918 Spyder also happens to be capable of some amazing things, such as accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds (2.6 with the Weissach Pack) and maxing out around 340 km/h (210 mph).
