One of the rarest models Porsche has ever made, a 1994 911 Turbo Flachbau is up for sale with 630 miles (1,013 km) on the clock.
Offered for sale by Hexagon Classics in UK, this is just one of the only 12 RHD cars ever made, with a total production run of 76 worldwide.
The Flachbau or Flatnose version was first offered in August 1993 towards the end of the 964’s production, with the cars featuring the X84 body package which included different front wings, pop-up headlights from the 968, a new front bumper with added air intakes and rear wheel fender intakes inspired by the 959.
Porsche also offered the X88 engine package for the 3.6-litre flat-six unit, which raised the power up to 385hp (from the regular Turbo’s 360hp) thanks to a bigger turbo, modified camshafts, valve timing, cylinder heads, inlet manifolds, an extra oil cooler and a four-pipe exhaust system.
Apart for the X84 package, the car you see here also features the upgraded engine, making it even more desirable. Painted in black metallic and with a black leather interior, this Flatnose 964 Turbo has covered only 630 miles since new, spending its life so far with its original owner as part of a private collection.
“At the time, only a select few were offered the ‘Flatnose’ models – they weren’t publicized, they were almost ‘under the counter’”, said Paul Michaels, chairman of Hexagon Classics. “Not only is this incredible 964 possibly the nearest thing to a brand-new Porsche 964 Turbo, it is also one of the rarest and most important time-warp Porsches we’ve ever had the pleasure of offering for sale.”
The price? £625,000 or $900,000 in today’s exchange rates, if you have to ask. If you factor in the condition, the rarity and the air-cooled nature of it, it almost makes sense. Almost…
