The California Air Resource Board (CARB) has accidentally revealed Tesla’s plans to introduce a new version of the recently revamped Model S.
The 75D was listed by CARB on vehicles eligible for single occupant carpool lane stickers where it was noticed by Electrek. The latter received a confirmation from the company that such a version is indeed around the corner, without disclosing a timeline.
According to the Verge, it will be launched this week and will slot between the 70 kWh and 90 kWh versions, coming as a $3,000 option with a total driving range of up to 259 miles (417 km), meaning 19 miles (31 km) more over the 70D entry-level and 35 miles (56 km) less than the range-topper.
Tesla has already introduced the 75 kWh on the Model X, where it became the new entry-level replacing the 70 kWh battery. In this form, the electric SUV has a total driving range of 237 miles (381 km), compared to the previous base guise’s 220 miles (354 km). Zero to sixty (96 km/h) sprint and top speed have remained unchanged at 6 seconds and 130 mph (209 km/h), respectively.
