If you are a Corvette owner and wished your car was a bit more practical or just have a thing for shooting brake-styled vehicles, Callaway has you covered.

The idea was originally introduced back in 2013, but Callaway has made the whole conversion plausible, announcing that they are now accepting orders, with the first cars to be ready towards the end of the year.

Available for standard Corvettes and ZO6s, Callaway’s Aerowagen conversion consists of a single piece made out of carbon-fiber. This replaces the factory hatch, using even the same seals, latches and hinges, making this a true bolt-on and reversible modification.

Callaway says that they haven’t calculated yet the increase in cargo volume but they expect it to be ‘significant’. Otherwise, it’s pretty much standard Corvette, with a predicted slight reduction in overall drag coefficient and the targa top still retained.

The first batch of installations is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year in the company’s facilities in Connecticut and California.

The trend towards more practical sports cars has just gained one more player. What do you think? Yay or nay?
