There have been lots of rumors related to the base version of Audi’s supercar that’s believed to be just around the corner.

If the report published by Car and Driver turns out to be accurate, then we might expect the entry-level version of Ingolstadt’s exotic to benefit from a tweaked version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that powers the new S4.

The powertrain, in its current form, is good for 354 PS, but in the R8, it’s expected to be updated to around 450 PS. Just like in the V10, the sole transmission will be a 7-speed dual-clutch and torque will be delivered to all four wheels via the Quattro AWD system.

Nothing is official at the time, yet the magazine suggests that it will have a top speed of around 190 mph (~305 km/h). The new data comes to dispel previous rumors that the four-ring brand’s entry-level will be powered by a 5-pot 2.5-liter turbo from the upcoming TT RS.
