With enough power and performance to take on supercars of the previous generation, AC Schnitzer’s ACL2 Concept gives BMW’s M235i Coupe a serious dose of power.
On display at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the tuned Bimmer adopts a modified version of the M3/M4’s S55 twin-turbo straight six, instead of the M235i’s 3.0-liter N55.
With 200 PS (197 HP) more than the stock M2 Coupe, AC Schnitzer’s compact monster promises to deliver a total of 570 PS (562 HP) to the rear wheels, through a six-speed manual. This basically means around 150 PS (148 HP) more than what the regular M3 / M4 has to offer, slashing the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time to 3.9 seconds. For those keeping track, the M2 needs 4.5sec, while the M4 can do it in 4.3sec, when equipped with a manual.
Besides the extra oomph, the donor car went through a diet, as it tips the scale at 1,448 kg (3,192 lbs), meaning 122 kg (269 lbs) less than the M2 and 142 kg (313 lbs) less than the larger M4. This results in a power-to-weight ratio better than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS or even a Ferrari 458 Italia.
The chassis was tuned with a fully height-adjustable Clubsport suspension and carbon ceramic brakes that are covered by 20-inch forged alloys. It instantly stands out thanks to its new body kit and racing green paintjob, while inside, the tuner removed the rear seat bench, added two Carbon racing bucket seats in the front, a tweaked steering wheel, aluminum gear shift knob and pedals, and new trimmings.
If you’re a BMW fan who wants this conversion on your M235i Coupe, don’t get your hopes too high, because it is currently a concept, but you never know what the future holds.
