Two models from Volkswagen will take center stage at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, from March 1: the updated Up! and a new concept car.
In between releasing special editions of the small vehicle, the German manufacturer has found time to update the entire family, which now comes in three equipment lines, a cross-version and the 2-seater Load Up!.
On top of that, the city car has had its exterior reworked, with a new front bumper featuring integrated cornering lights, optional fog lamps, new headlights with LED DRLs, larger side mirrors with integrated indicator, updated taillights graphics and tweaked rear bumper.
Completing its fresh design is the wide range of customization options, which includes 13 body colors, nine decals, three roof shades, ten different dashboard designs and an ambient light option, on the higher-end versions.
Inside, Volkswagen’s work was on the mild side as the “new” Up! has gained an optional multi-function steering wheel and the automatic air conditioning system, along with USB, Bluetooth, VW app, 300-watt Beats audio system and updated seat fabrics.
A new turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine was added to the lineup. It was sourced straight from the Golf BlueMotion TSI, but detuned from 115PS (113hp) to 90PS (89hp). It is paired to a manual transmission and allows the three-door version to go from 0-100km/h (62mph) in 10.0sec and up to a top speed of 185km/h (115mph).
