Toyota has prepared a dedicated aero package for the GT86 to give it an even sportier feel.

If the body-kit seems somewhat familiar, then you should know that this isn’t the first time Toyota uses it on the 2+2 sports car. The Japanese carmaker actually offered limited edition variants of the model that came sporting these factory-grade visual enhancements.

Now, if you live in Japan, you won’t need to hunt for a special variant of the GT86, as Toyota will be offering the vehicle with the entire body kit pre-installed, beginning on May 12.

The package consists of revised front and rear bumpers, a rear large spoiler, mud guards, side skirts and other subtle enhancements implemented to achieve improved aerodynamic capabilities – like a flat under body – for the “FT” variant.

In addition, the visual enhancements are complemented by a set of 18-inch forged BBS aluminum wheels shod with in Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires (front 215 / 40R18, rear 225 / 40R18), while  the sport brake pads and SACHS shock absorbers are the only things that improve the vehicle’s performance. That means you won’t find – unfortunately – a more powerful variant of the 2.0-litre 200 PS four-cylinder boxer under the hood, but that was to be expected.

The price for a GT with the regular aero package will drain at least $27,602 out of your pocket (for the manual version), while the “FT” variant will cost $3,394 more (always in Japan). Each variant can be optional mated to a 6-Speed SPDS automatic transmission, and with one of the 7 colors available.
