While it may be somewhat lacking in the powertrain department, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro‘s design has ensured it stands out at the Chicago Auto Show.
The pick up truck’s more intimidating looks come courtesy of a 1-inch lift kit, blacked out front grille, a prominent aluminum skid plate, Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar-reinforced tires and a set of LED fog lights and daytime running lights. It also includes black wheels arches, a black shark-fin antenna and similarly-finished hood scoop.
The 278 hp 3.5-liter V6 is the same as lesser versions and, like them, comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Still, while the TRD Pro has no performance gains, it is shaping up to be more capable off-road thanks to a set of Fox 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks, new TRD springs up front and leaf springs tweaked by TRD at the rear.
