Land Rover has scored approximately 500 pre-orders for the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible, in its home market, most of them placed by women.
The compact 4×4 cabriolet’s popularity might have been helped by Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond series, as she unveiled the vehicle in November, at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
“Moneypenny driving an Evoque Convertible? I think she has this kind of alter-ego, which is really glamorous. She’d absolutely love it. Driving around with the top down and the wind blowing in my hair, the sun shining, great music playing, I would be having a ball“, said the 39-year old actress.
“It’s an incredible level of demand for the first Range Rover Convertible from Land Rover – especially as the order books do not even open officially until the spring“, stated a spokesman for the automaker, quoted by DailyMail.
Order books for the Range Rover Evoque Convertible will open this spring, in the United Kingdom, where the vehicle costs £47,500 OTR, in the entry-level TD4 HSE Dynamic version.
In the United States, the manufacturer will launch it in mid-2016, from $50,475, without delivery, and it will be offered with a single engine, a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline four-pot, producing 237hp (240PS), paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission with standard AWD.
