Throughout the decades, a number of limited-edition Nissan Skylines have been produced, including the exceptionally special Nismo 400R but of them all, the R34-generation GT-R Nismo Z-Tune is quite possibly the best.
Produced in 2003 and limited to just 19 units worldwide, the GT-R Nismo Z-Tune is a true icon of the Skyline family and now, one fine example is up for sale in Hong Kong, courtesy of Contempo Concept HK Motors.
With a price tag equivalent to $510,000, this 13 year-old Skyline is more expensive than a brand new Lamborghini Aventador SV but for that price, you get one of the fastest production Skylines ever.
Powering the GT-R Nismo Z-Tune is a stroked 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine outiftted with IHI turbochargers, forged pistons, forged fillet-rolled camshafts, a custom exhaust manifold, intake plenum and stroked crankshaft. All told, that engine pumps out a very impressive 500 hp and revving to an atmospheric 9,000 rpm.
When combined with an all-wheel drive system, Nissan claimed at the car’s launch it could set a 10.06 second quarter mile time. That’s hypercar territory.
Is $510,000 a lot of money for a Nissan? It sure is but given the vehicle’s rarity and its cult-like following, it could prove quite a profitable investment.
