The new Audi R8 doesn’t fly, in fact cars are far away from achieving this, despite numerous attempts made in this direction.
However, vehicles don’t really need to spread their wings to become interesting in the eyes of a retired astronaut, who “lost his zeal for life“, because apparently all he wanted was for someone to hand over the keys to the new R8 V10 Plus, like his son, in Audi’s newest video.
This is where nostalgia kicks in, as the old astronaut remembers true space launches, while he sits behind the wheel of the V10-powered German machine and from this point, the sky is the limit.
“It’s a universal reminder that amazing things happen when we choose exploration, technology and the moon“, says the video’s description, as a reference to the Lunar Quattro, a vehicle with which Audi wants to conquer the surface of Earth’s natural satellite.
The German automaker has teamed up with Berlin-based engineering group Part-Time Scientists to transport the completely automated vehicle to the Moon by the end of 2017.
