These are the first shots of Citroen’s upcoming C3 Picasso compact MPV, taken during development driving in Europe.
Unlike the next generation of the C3 hatchback, which is going to be based on the same platform with the Peugeot 208, the new C3 Picasso will be based on the same architecture with the next Opel Meriva.
Our info says that the two models will share most of their body panels too, with both brands to differentiate their models in key areas like the front and rear ends. Despite the heavy camouflage of the mule we have here, you can distinguish the characteristic Citroen headlight pattern which is used also in the other MPV of the brand, the Picasso and the Grand Picasso.
The new C3 Picasso will not share the same powertrains with its Opel sibling though, with Citroen going instead for their own powerplants. The engine range should include the latest three-cylinder turbocharged petrol units as well as the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel in various outputs.
