BMW introduced its new M2 Coupe at the Detroit Motor Show, where it confirmed a starting MSRP of $51,700 for the US market.
The cost excludes a destination and handling fee, of $995, along with taxes, title, license and registration, obviously.
The online configurator for the high-performance machine is not available yet, but the firm’s website displays a Long Beach Blue metallic-finished example, which joins the Black Sapphire metallic, Mineral Grey metallic and Alpine White colors.
As far as the interior goes, customers do not have many options here, as all M2s carry black leather with blue contrast stitching, along with the carbon fiber and Alcantara trimmings.
BMW’s compact two-door model has the same lightweight aluminum suspension as its larger brothers, the M3 and M4, along with the high-performance braking system and the Active M Differential.
Power comes from a six-pot twin-scroll turbo 3.0-liter engine, producing 365hp (370PS) and 343lb-ft (465Nm) of torque, sent to the rear wheels via a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. 0-62mph (100km/h) takes 4.5sec with the manual and 4.3sec with the automatic, while top speed is electronically limited to 155mph (250km/h) in both cases.
