India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, just dropped a teaser of its first sub-compact SUV, which we’ll come to know as the Vitara Brezza.
The world premiere of the sub-4 meter model will take place at India’s Delhi Auto Expo in early February, with sales to commence in the following weeks.
Other than borrowing the name, the Vitara Breeza is unrelated to the larger Vitara and Grand Vitara models, though; it does appear to ape the styling of the former. According to Maruti, Breeza is Italian for “Fresh Breeze”.
Maruti did not disclose any details about the car’s availability in other markets nor what will power it, but a report from Indian Autos Blog states that in India, it will borrow the local Swift’s engine lineup, including the Japanese brand’s own 1.2-liter petrol and the Fiat-derived 1.3-liter turbo diesel, both paired to a standard five-speed manual.
H/T to Shrawan!
