Another teaser image of Volkswagen’s upcoming concept debuting at CES 2016 has been released, this time revealing more of the car’s rear-end and potentially its name.
The picture shows what a recent teaser video did in that we can see one of the LED taillights as well as a reverse light stretching the width of the car. Just below that reverse light is the famed VW badge and below, the model’s designation. Although it is hard to be completely certain, it appears to read Budd.e.
Such a name seems appropriate given the German company’s previous Microbus concept was dubbed the Bulli. Obviously, the ‘e’ in the name of the new company refers to its all-electric powertrain, a featured already confirmed by VW.
It is suggested that the electric powertrain underpinning the VW Budd.e borrows battery technology from the Audi R8 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron quattro concept and should offer the concept a range of up to 500 km.
Apparently, the concept will preview a production version of the Microbus, likely to be produced at VW’s factory in Mexico from 2017. Alongside the all-electric version, a number of turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines are also expected to be made available.
