As the Formula E championship continues to grow, it has emerged that Jaguar Land Rover is getting ready to announce its entry to the electric racing championship.
Sky News reports that the company could return to the motorsport world as Jaguar for the first time since 2004, when it exited Formula One. If JLR does indeed enter Formula E, it will help in its development of electric powertrain technologies for future electric-powered production cars.
Jaguar is tipped to work in close collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering for its electric racer and it will compete alongside the likes of Peugeot, Renault and Audi, as well as a number of the privateer teams. Considering that the 2015-2016 Formula E season started in October and will run through to July next year, Jaguar Land Rover will probably have to wait until next year.
