BMW will reveal a new Spyder concept based on the i8 hybrid sports car at the CES 2016, previewing essentially the production version.

The report comes from Auto Express, saying that the debut of the second i8 Spyder concept will focus on the vehicle’s on-board technology since CES is an electronics show, showcasing the hi-tech character of the brand’s open top i8.

You might remember the first concept being revealed at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, with the new one expected to bring several improvements and a slight redesign.

BMW is also working on a hardcore version of the i8 Coupe and a more environmental-friendly hydrogen fuel cell version. The production of the i8 Spyder will also bring a facelift for the current i8 Coupe, bringing powertrain updates for a bigger range and more power from the hybrid powertrain.
