Old versus new and partly analogue versus a high-tech fest in a battle between two hardcore mid-engined machines born in Maranello: the 458 Speciale and the F430 Scuderia.
The footage is uncut, it was shot somewhere on an airfield and it reveals the main performance differences set apart by a few years of development.
The newer model in Ferrari’s lineup uses a 4.5-liter V8 updated from 570PS (562hp, in the 458 Italia, to 605PS (596hp). The exotic needs just 3 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill and flat out it will do more than 325km/h (202mph).
The F430 Scuderia, on the other hand, has a 4.3-liter V8 that has 20PS (19 hp) more than the one in the regular F430, to a total of 510 PS (503hp). From 0 to 100 km/h (62mph), it needs 3.6 seconds and it can go up to a top speed of 319 km/h (198mph).
No doubt the 488 will spawn an incredible variant, too, but this marks the end of an era: that of the naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari “specials”.
