The new Guinness World Record for Tightest Reverse Parallel Parking was set by Alastair Moffatt, in a classic Mini Cooper.
Leaving a combined distance of 34 cm between his car and the vehicles in front and behind, the multiple-record holder and stunt drive specialist has had his name written in the Guinness Book of Records, one more time.
“I am so thrilled that I was able to achieve a Guinness World Records title today – especially on Guinness World Records Day, it doesn’t get much better than that. A lot of planning, dedications and, of course, parking went into today’s successful record attempt”, said the stunt driver.
With his right foot to the floor, in reverse, Alastair performed a J-turn and a handbrake turn to slot his car in an extremely tight space, beating the previous record of 35cm, held by Ronny Wechselberger since June, 2012, by just 1cm
The record was confirmed by an on-site official adjudicator and it took place in Brooklands, the “birthplace of British motorsport and aviation”. Alastair Moffatt is already the record holder for Tightest Parallel Park, after slipping a Fiat 500C in a space only 7.5cm bigger than his car, earlier this year, in January.
