Lexus wants to infuse its brand with more emotion and what a better way to achieve this than with a production version of their stunning LF-LC Concept Car.
Our spies nabbed a prototype of the production car, which is rumored to carry the LC name in tune with the Japanese firm’s new nomenclature that includes the smaller RC coupe, in a multitude of angles while undergoing testing near Germany’s Nürburgring track this week.
If the original concept’s dramatic looks from the 2012 Detroit motor show made you all giddy and warm on the inside, you’ll be happy to know that, from what we can tell, the production car has adopted its style, even if toned down for practical purposes.
Lexus never portrayed the study as a supercar in the likes of the now discontinued LFA, but as more of a luxury coupe with sporting genes, which probably places it somewhere between BMW’s 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class Coupe
There are plenty of unknowns at this point, including its underpinnings, as it could be based on one of Lexus existing platforms like the GS or LS, perhaps even one of the firm’s upcoming modular architectures, with the same applying for its powertrains, though, the Japanese firm’s move to trademark the LC 500 and LC 500h names back in 2014, hint at a 5.0-liter V8 for the former and a hybrid V8 or V6 for the latter.
Lexus will probably tease us one more time with a more production-ready concept for the LC, possibly as early as next year’s Detroit motor show, before it reaches showrooms in early 2017.
