Even though the new Audi R8 probably won’t turn as many heads as it did when the first generation model came out, it’s still a spectacular car both outside and in.
We have to hand it to Audi for being creative. At one end of the spectrum they will literally shock you with one of their models giving birth to another, and then they go and make these simple yet clever types of videos that do kind of get you in the mood to drive a 610 PS supercar.
The pupil dilation thing is pretty cool, especially since it’s following a precise rhythm (acceleration & both up-shift and down-shift), and while your eyes won’t be doing any of that in real life, the R8 V10’s 540 PS and 610 PS unit definitely merits your attention.
Speaking of the 5.2 liter V10, it’s naturally aspirated (yes, in 2015) and high-capacity engine enthusiasts should rejoice because as an industry standard, they literally don’t make them like this anymore.
Performance-wise, the “entry-level” R8 V10 boasts 540 PS and will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, 0.3 seconds slower than the R8 V10 plus model which has 610 PS.
At the end of the clip, you’ll notice how Audi felt the need to mention the R8 V10 plus’ carbon ceramic brakes and that’s perfectly fine because they’re right to point out how the R8 (at its best) has grown into a genuine supercar.
And we have to hand it to Audi for showing us this truly gorgeous orange model (looks like Samoa Orange metallic), arguably one of the best R8 colors you can shine a light on.
