The spy photographers didn’t actually look under this Genesis prototype’s hood to confirm that it is in fact the engine, but the car apparently had a handy sticker on the windscreen that revealed it. read “test car – 3.3T 8AT AWD.”

The engine was quietly shown at the Chicago motor show. Is is a 3.3-liter turbocharged unit with 365 hp and 379 lb-ft or 513 Nm of torque and, apparently, the smallest looking turbochargers in the world…

The gearbox it’s connected to in the case of the mule shown here is an eight-speed automatic – that’s probably a development of the one already in use on the Genesis, or the exact same unit. This particular car also confirms the availability of all-wheel drive.

The Korean Car Blog suggests that the N Performance version of the next Genesis will use the same engine but in a higher state of tune, with up to 480 hp. The hottest version could also sport the 5.0-liter V8 from the larger Genesis sedan.
