The McLaren 720S has made a name for itself as a super fast machine by taking on some serious competition and beating them fair and square.
In fact, only a few cars turned out to be faster than Woking’s latest Super Series model on the drag strip. But with 2.9sec needed for the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint, and a top speed of 341km/h (212mph), it’s very easy to see why.
The unofficial drag king, however, was recently challenged by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. The former Nurburgring record holder is not as impressive as the McLaren 720S, but its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 is very punchy, at 640PS (631hp / 470kW) and 600Nm (443lb-ft) of torque. Neverheless, that’s 80PS (79hp / 59kW) and 170Nm (125lb-ft) of torque shy of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 powering the McLaren.

Thanks to the countless man hours of work that went into it, the Huracan Performante is just as fast to 100km/h (62mph) as is its British rival, but 1.1sec slower to 200km/h (124mph). Flat-out, the Italian supercar does more than 325km/h (201mph).
Lambo’s track-focused supercar does, however, have a big advantage over the 720S: it sports an advanced all-wheel drive system, whereas the McLaren has to make do with rear-wheel drive.
So, this equals the field a bit. Now, let’s check out the following video to see which of the two supercars is faster.
