Most people find spiders creepy; whether it’s because of movies or the fact that some of them are venomous, it’s perfectly understandable. We don’t love them, either.
What would you do if you saw one while you were filling up your car? You’d be scared alright, probably walk in the opposite direction hoping it will walk away, too, try and fetch a broomstick or something.
Would you try and torch it with a lighter in a gas station, right near the pump while you’re standing close to it? You’re not crazy, are you?
That’s a good question to ask the fellow who did exactly that at a Center Line gas station in Detroit, Michigan. Yes, he did use a lighter and, as you can see, the inevitable happened: he started a blaze.
Miraculously, while the flames engulfed the pump, he escaped unharmed. If it were a film, the whole station would have blown up. Thankfully it wasn’t and the quick reflexes of employee Susan Adams, who hit the automatic stop button, prevented a catastrophe.
The fuel pump was, of course, destroyed. That’s nothing to what would have happened if Ms. Adams hadn’t kept her cool and reacted instantly.
By the way: nice job, man. Next time use a flame thrower, will you, just to make sure.
