Following the preview photo released in July, Chevrolet has added details about the facelifted 2016 Silverado 1500 pickup truck.
Debuting today at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, the refreshed Silverado gets a new face with redesigned light units with LED DRLs and LED fog lights, a reshaped grille and sculpted hood.
The new front end designs provide a distinct look for each Silverado trim level. For example, the Silverado WT gets chrome horizontal grille elements, black grille inserts, and compact high-intensity discharge headlamps.
LT and LTZ Silverados feature chrome grille elements and bumpers, while Z71 models have a monochromatic appearance. Finally, Silverado High Country models get chrome horizontal bars and unique grille inserts, set off by body colored bumpers.
All trim levels benefit from LED DRLS and LED park/turn lamps. LED fog lamps are available on LT and standard on LT Z71. The LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country models feature LED technology for all lighting, including LED headlamps, daytime running lights, fog lights, park/turn signal lamps, and taillamps.
The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 also brings equipment updates, including support for Apple CarPlay for the available OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. In addition, Silverado models with the available 7-inch color MyLink also will support Android Auto.
In terms of safety and convenience, the new 2016 Silverado 1500 is available with features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist and IntelliBeam high beam assist. Chevrolet also offers an optional remote locking tailgate for convenience and security, while wireless phone charging is available on LT and LTZ double cab and crew cab models with available bucket seats (standard on High Country).
As for mechanical hardware, the 2016 Silverado 1500 continues with the same three Ecotec3 engines: a standard 4.3-liter V6 rated at 285hp and 305lb-ft (413Nm) of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 delivering 355hp and 383lb-ft (519Nm) of torque with an EPA highway estimate of 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km), and a range-topping 6.2-liter V8 certified at 420hp and 460lb-ft (623Nm) of torque.
For 2016, the new 8-speed automatic transmission previously offered as standard only on the 6.2-liter model will be standard on 5.3-liter models as well in LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country grades.
