Having an adjustable ride height, while not a new idea, is still a feature absent in virtually all new cars. You can, however, correct this by installing an aftermarket air ride setup as they have been getting better and better over the years.
According to this video by GTChannel, SEMA show car builder Josh Sherwin Esfahani says such systems are not as popular as they could be because of misconceptions. He says people fear leaks and drained batteries too much and that those aren’t really issues any more.
Bouncy rides are a thing of the past too, and proof of that is the widespread use of air suspension in luxury production cars.
So what are the advantages? Well, you won’t ever hit the underside of your car or risk damaging bolt-ons like low expensive bumpers or side skirts. The ride comfort and tautness don’t depend on the air springs themselves, but on the shock absorbers you add on top.
