Lamborghini finally revealed as expected the open-top version of the Huracan, bringing even more thrills and excitement to its potential customers.
The topless Huracan uses a lightweight, electrohydraulic fabric roof which is available in three different colors- black, brown and red- and can be lowered with a push of a button in 17 seconds and up to a driving speed of 50km/h (31mph).
As for the styling, the Italian maker went for a pair of fins behind the seats that help in defining the side profile of the car, with the roof open. The rear window can now be lowered, even with the roof in its position to amplify the epic soundtrack of the V10 engine.
One of the last naturally aspirated masterpieces in its class, the 5.2-litre V10 makes the same 610hp as its fixed-roof brother, allowing it to sprint from zero to 100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 324km/h (201mph). The engine also features the latest technical updates, including the ‘cylinder-on-demand’ function combined with a ‘stop start’ system. Lamborghini also claims an updated setup for the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system that allows for even better handling characteristics.
The Huracan Spyder’s chassis is 40% stiffer than the one used by the Gallardo Spyder, with Lamborghini announcing a dry weight of 1,542kg (3,399lbs) which gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 2.53kg (5.57lbs) per hp. The flat underbody, the large rear diffuser and the integrated rear spoiler also means a 50% increase in downforce when compared with its predecessor.
The first deliveries of the new Lamborghini Huracan Spyder LP 610-4 are expected to start in spring 2016, costing in Europe 186,450€ (about $211,000) plus national taxes.
