We spied Bentley testing a longer wheelbase version of their flagship Mulsanne saloon that also sports some fresh styling cues. This will no doubt be the most expensive, luxurious and longest Bentley model yet.
The base Mulsanne is a beast of a car itself at 5,575mm (219.5 inches) long, 1,926mm wide (75.8 inches) wide, and 1,521mm (59.9 inches) tall, riding on a 3,266mm (128.6 inches) wheelbase.
However, the competition has already moved forward with even longer models such as Rolls Royce’s 6,091 mm (239.8 in) Phantom Extended Wheelbase and Mercedes’ 6,499mm (255.9 in) Maybach Pullman.
This new LWB Mulsanne should add about 200 to 300mm between the wheels to better accommodate rear passengers pushing the car’s overall length to around 5.8 to 5.9 meters. It will also enhance the already sumptuous interior with extra features.
Bentley has made some light changes to the car’s front end over the standard Mulsanne, and specifically, the outer, auxiliary lights have been moved up to the same height as the inner units, and the bumper has been reworked. We also spotted a new sunroof for the rear passengers positioned behind the B-column.
Power on this prototype comes from Bentley’s 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8, though, we don’t know if the British brand has made any changes over the regular Mulsanne’s unit that produces 505hp (512PS) and 1020Nm/ 752lb-ft of torque, or if it will also offer the body with the Speed model’s upgraded V8.
The LWB Mulsanne will come into the light within the next year.
