Despite being nearly 5 meters (16.4 feet) long and weighing just under 2 tonnes (4,409 lbs), the all-new 2019 Audi A7 Sportback is a surprisingly nimble family car.

Don’t believe it? Check out this plethora of stability-related tests performed by the Spaniards of km77. They started with the ever-popular moose test, executed at 75, 76, 77 and 78 km/h (46, 47.2, 47.8 and 48.4 mph), followed by a very revealing slalom test.

During the 75 km/h test, the new A7 Sportback performed flawlessly, going around every cone and bringing its rear end in line as soon as the steering wheel was straightened. Increasing the speed ever so slightly however made things more difficult, although the car never seemed troubled by the constant changes in direction.

This all-new Audi model can be equipped with four different suspension setups, which include a conventional steel spring suspension, but also an updated air suspension system (which this test car happened to have), said to offer a more “agile, nimble and comfortable” ride.

Then there’s the optional sports suspension which brings the car closer to the road by 10 mm (0.4 inches), the progressive steering and the dynamic all-wheel steering system, which allows the rear to wheels to turn by as much as 5 degrees.

As you can see, the A7 did a great job on the slalom course as well, which goes to show how far modern-day large family cars have come handling-wise, compared to older-generation models.
