It seems the next Nissan GT-R’s development has veered off course and it could result in a sedan, says a report coming from Australia. Yes, this is another one of those where you need to not believe everything you read, while at the same time admitting the possibility that it could be real.
The story, according to Motoring’s unnamed source, is that the development of the new GT-R has moved from Japan to Europe and America.
The insider, which claims to have intimate knowledge of the project, supposedly said “obviously some development work is being done in Japan, inside the country’s Super GT championship. But the bulk is now being carried out by Nissan Europe and Nissan USA.”
Apparently, the trend in these more motorsport-active areas of the world is to make more performance four-door sedans, so Nissan wants in too.
The only thing that could give this rumor some credibility is the fact that Infiniti went ahead and (almost) built the Q50 Eau Rouge; could it be connected in some ways to this supposed future four-door GT-R?
