The latest-generation Kia Optima has been unveiled in April at the New York Auto Show and later on in South Korea (where it is marketed as the K5). The time has now come for Europe to get the new Optima, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
What we have here are leaked official photos of the Euro-spec Kia Optima, courtesy of The Korean Car Blog. The model sports a more aggressive body kit with a rear diffuser, big oval exhaust pipes, dark door sills and GT badges – which shouldn’t be mistaken for GT Line badges.
Judging from the similar aero kit, the Kia Optima GT should be the European equivalent of the Optima SX sold in North America. The latter is powered by a 2.0-liter GDI Turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 247hp. We don’t know whether the European model will get the same unit, but we don’t see any reason for Kia not to offer it across the pond as well.
Expect to hear more about the European-spec Kia Optima as we get closer to its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
