Jaguar no longer has an XJ-based coupe in its lineup, but that may change in the coming years if we’re to believe to some reports.

As the XK reached the end of the line, Jaguar is said to be considering a larger coupe based on the next-generation Jaguar XJ that would compete against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.

Until that happens, those of you who are nostalgic about large Jaguar coupes can enjoy this video from Harry’s Garage, which documents a road trip from the UK to Monaco in a 1980 XJS V12. It’s actually a video diary of Octane Magazine’s September 2015 cover story which tries to recreate some of the photos from Jaguar XJS’ original brochure.

Still, 1,000 miles (1,609 km) in a 1980 Jaguar XJS V12 seems like a courageous thing to do. It’s a well maintained car though and nothing went wrong. Check out the video to hear Metcalfe’s conclusions about the big Jag.
