I don’t know how this car ended up on the Nurburgring, but it might has lost its way to the French Riviera.
Usually, a race-track isn’t the place for a luxurious convertible, but Mercedes seems to think otherwise. Being a sports-car aficionado, I get the whole “Nurburgring-testing” idea, but this is just getting ridiculous.
I mean how dynamic should a grand-cabriolet be? The whole reason why these type of automobiles should roam the Earth is to cruise along with their top down, in a picturesque landscape. Granted, a little grunt is always welcomed, especially when it comes from a twin-turbocharged V12.
Letting ethics and what’s morally right and wrong in the car-world aside, this angry AMG-sounding behemoth is the upcoming S-Class Cabriolet – in case you didn’t figure it out by now.
Set to debut next year, the car follows the lines of the regular S Coupe and features a traditional soft-top in order to save weight and space. On a personal note, I found the soft-top romantic, better suited for an opulent two-door large convertible.
Engine-wise, it will probably feature the powerplants already available in the Coupe version and, maybe, that beautifully-engineered, AMG 12 cylinder turbocharged monster. Just imagine; a monumental, majestic Mercedes cabriolet with a V12 under its hood.
