On a rather special episode of Ignition, Randy Pobst shares his Pikes Peak experience, from preparing the car to racing on the famous hill climb.
The racing driver chose a modified Nissan GT-R as his weapon of choice, tuned to deliver about 700hp after reviewing the awesome GT-R NISMO due to the confidence-inspiring handling balance of the Japanese sports car.
He then shows us the struggle of setting up the car just right, as the line between a properly sorted tuned car and one that’s simply worse than the stock is really thin. Pikes Peak is a really risky race, despite the fact that is all paved now, as the asphalt meant that the speeds are now much higher, further increasing the potential hazards for the drivers.
Unfortunately the race didn’t have a happy ending for Pobst and his team but the good news is that he is OK and more ready than ever to try his luck again next year.
