The Ford EcoSport failed to impress in Europe, and that’s probably got to do with the original markets it was intended for, but now they’ve spruced it up and are trying a kind of relaunch and have just priced it in the UK.

Ford says this revised EcoSport offers “styling upgrades, improved driving dynamics,” as well as extra equipment. It also gains more sound deadening, “tighter seals around the pedals,” and the “engine and gearbox matching has been revised” for better durability.

The choice of engines is limited to three units: the 1- and 1.5-liter petrols and the 1.5-liter diesel. In terms of efficiency, it’s the diesel that’s most frugal, returning a claimed average of 64.2 mpg and emitting 115 g/Km CO2.

Prices start at £14,245 for a base 1.5 Ti-VCT and even if you order one now, first deliveries are pegged for October.
