Diesel Golf VII GTD Modified By MR Racing.

MR Racing has the antidote for the run of the mill, grey Golf diesel.

Granted, this GTD spec MK7 Golf isn’t quite like the rest of the pack (since it wants to be perceived as something sporty), but that’s exactly why MR Racing decided to add a little flavor and color to the grey world of economical German diesel hatchbacks.

Thanks to a Reiger body kit and 20-inch yellow rims, this Golf looks just… awful. Apparently, someone at MR Racing thought that painting red some bits of the Reiger kit was a good idea. I mean, the car looks like a mid-90s internet page, but that’s fine, because the technical specifications are way cooler.

Don’t expect any surprises under the hood, as the car carries its normal turbo, four cylinder 2.0-litre diesel engine. Mind you, the stock 181 HP power output is long gone and with a little software optimization by SLS, the car now produces 209 HP and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque.

Basically, MR Racing gathered some of the most renowned German aftermarket specialists and made an interesting overall package for the GTD Golf. SRS Tec widened fenders, KW Variant 3 coilover suspension, KW 20-inch rims, Reiger body kit and SLS Software optimization ECU.

So, you might wonder, where’s the cool part? Aha! Well, the car has an Active Sound Exhaust System, which makes it resonate like a beast (watch / hear the video). The Sound booster can be controlled via the infotainment system and makes a pretty good job hiding the diesel clatter.

Ah, the sound of a V8 and the performance of a diesel-powered automobile. Just like the old muscle-cars.
