As we’ve stated before, BMW is the kind of marque that gets involved in design, supports it and celebrates it.

That’s why at events like the Villa D’este Concorso D’Eleganza, BMW is not afraid to exhibit new design techniques, approaches and endeavors. The Germans are experimenting with lines, materials and shapes in order to materialize an idea, or a concept. For designers, the finished product is a step away from an idea that lurks in the mind.

And it’s not always about cars. BMW celebrates all variations of design, from clothing to industrial. It even has a keynote, entitled Spheres, which collaborates with different designers from around the world in order to construct art.

Alfredo Häberli is the latest designer to collaborate with the automotive company’s design team. The result of BMW’s “precision & poetry” theme was an object which Häberli interprets as a car. A designer from outside the automotive sphere, has a different perspective when it comes to form and objects. Being conceived as a futuristic concept, the vehicle is not a car, nor a boat or a plane; it’s simply a mixture of what you want it to be. Confused? Better watch the video.
