In the time frame preceding the launch of the new Porsche 911 GT3, based on the 991 series, people began chattering about the discontinuation of the manual gearbox option for the model.
However, as you would expect if you know a bit about how the industry works, it actually proved a hit and people started saying “oh, it may have a self-shifter, but it’s so darn good overall that it doesn’t matter.”
Obviously, it’s faster too, with the PDK gearbox, so really there’s nothing to complain about – it gives you more performance and efficiency, so it’s the definition of technical progress. Coupled with a multitude of other electronic systems that aid the latest GT3, and it actually starts looking more like a Nissan GT-R with the engine on the other end and just RWD.
In fact, it one-ups the GT-R by also having rear-wheel steering, a system the Nissan would have undoubtedly used to great effect had it been fitted with one.
You really can’t say no to a Porsche 911 GT3, especially if you make it a habit to watch reviews like the one posted below via XCar.
