Brabus has released the PowerXtra B50 Hybrid performance kit for the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid for those who want more power and torque.

The 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine sees an increase of 52PS (51hp) and 70Nm (52lb-ft) of torque, for a combined system output of 500PS (493hp) and a combined system torque of 890Nm (656lb-ft).

Naturally, this has an effect on performance, with the luxury sedan sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, 0.6 seconds quicker than the standard car. However, top speed remains electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) due to the hybrid system.

Brabus’ modifications to the V6 engine include special mapping for injection and ignition, as well as a moderate increase in boost pressure. Instead of stock 333PS (328hp), the engine is boosted to 385PS (379hp) at 5,600 rpm and 550Nm (405lb-ft) between 1,600 and 4,000 rpm.

The tuner says the modifications bring an “even more superior driving sensation,” with the extra power available across the entire rev range. Besides the performance kit, customers can personalize their Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid with the numerous options for the S-Class including an aero package, tailor-made wheels with diameters of up to 22 inches and exclusive options for the interior.

Also available is a fully stainless-steel sports exhaust system with four tailpipes in hallmark Brabus design.
