After receiving word in March that BMW confirmed the existence of a new M4 GTS Coupe, we now learn that it will arrive in the USA in March of 2016.
The news comes from Bimmerpost and a forum member who posted a screenshot from BMW‘s ordering system showing the M4 GTS Coupe. We have no way of being absolutely sure about its authenticity, but at a first glance, it does seem legit.
In January, we scooped BMW testing what we think is a prototype for the M4 GTS Coupe featuring a handful of modifications, including a prominent fixed rear wing, a redesigned front bumper with a lip spoiler, larger brakes, and a lowered chassis.
It’s highly possible that the M4 GTS will be lighter dropping the rear seat bench altogether and feature BMW’s propriety “water boost system” featured on M4 MotoGP Safety Car Concept that utilizes water injection tech to improve the engine’s output and which has been confirmed for production use.
It should be very similar in philosophy to the strictly two-seater 2010 M3 GTS Coupe, a very expensive limited edition that was never offered in North America. Speaking of pricing, for what it’s worth, the M3 GTS carried a 65 percent premium over the standard M3 Coupe (~ close to €70,000) in Germany at €115,000.
If –and that’s a very big if- BMW follows the same example in the States with the M4 GTS, then a 65 percent increase in price over the regular car would equate to around $105,000. Just a thought about this hypothetical scenario, but I think a price distance of at least $30,000 from the $130,400 Porsche 911 GT3 would make non-roundel-blinded buyers more comfortable with the GTS…
